Privacy Policy
Updated October 6, 2026
WattFacts is a free reference site about electricity in Texas. You can use every page and calculator without an account, and we never ask for your name, address or account numbers.
What we collect
- **ZIP codes and calculator inputs.** When you enter a ZIP code or your monthly kWh, we use it to look up plan prices for your area. We don't link it to you and don't store it in a profile. Like any address you visit, a ZIP code in a page address can appear in our server logs.
- **Server logs.** Our server records technical details of each request: IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time. We use them to keep the site running and secure, and delete them after a limited period.
- **Analytics.** We use Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages are useful. It uses cookies and collects data such as your approximate location, device and the pages you view. We don't send Google your name or contact details. Google's use of this data is described in How Google uses information from sites that use its services.
- **Emails you send us.** If you write to contact@wattfacts.com, we keep your message and address to reply. We don't add you to any mailing list.
Advertising and cookies
Ads on WattFacts are served by Google. Google and its partners may use cookies to show ads based on your visits to this and other websites. You can turn off personalized ads in Google Ad Settings or opt out of third-party vendors' cookies at aboutads.info. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the site works without them.
Some pages may link to electricity providers that pay us a commission. Those links take you to the provider's site, where its own privacy policy applies. See our disclosure.
Sharing
We don't sell or rent personal information. Data is processed by the services named above (Google for analytics and advertising) and by our hosting provider, and may be disclosed if required by law.
Your rights
Depending on your state, you may have the right to know what personal information we hold about you, to ask us to delete it, and to opt out of targeted advertising. Because we don't keep profiles, there is usually nothing tied to you on our side; for Google's data, use the links above. To make a request, email contact@wattfacts.com.
Children
WattFacts is not directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
